Climate Action Community Dialogue | Central Jersey | April 23, 2025

The climate action community dialogue meeting for Central New Jersey communities— hosted by the Metuchen, Edison, Piscataway Branch of the NAACP and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) — aimed to discuss previously identified climate action and air pollution priorities and any new climate related issues Central Jersey communities may be facing. This feedback will shape New Jersey’s Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.

Implementing NJ’s PCAP: Climate Mitigation Funding Opportunities for NJ Local Governments (2024)

EPA announced a national competition for funding to implement measures contained in Priority Climate Action Plans. Applications were due in April 2024. New Jersey was awarded $3 million from the EPA to put toward CPRG planning.

DEP hosted a webinar with the New Jersey Climate Change Resource Center at Rutgers University following the release of the PCAP on March 1, 2024. This webinar was focused on funding opportunities for local governments, however several opportunities were also available for community-based organizations, School Districts, and other entities. The webinar features simultaneous Spanish translation.

CPRG Topical Stakeholder Sessions for the PCAP (2023)

The New Jersey Climate Change Resource Center at Rutgers University worked with the DEP to gather input from stakeholders regarding the six priority areas outlined in the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP): transportation, buildings, electric generation, food waste, halogenated gases, and natural working lands. Stakeholders were invited to participate in a series of topical virtual stakeholder sessions to provide input on each of these priority areas. CPRG Kickoff Workshops: Discussing New Jersey's Workplan and Priorities (2023)

DEP hosted a kickoff workshop on October 24, 2023 from 12-1:30pm which discussed New Jersey’s workplan and priorities, anticipated process for the climate pollution planning and implementation grants and future engagement opportunities.
