Know Your Tides
As New Jersey’s coasts change, it’s more important than ever to #KnowYourTidesNJ. Join the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve (JCNERR) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) as we get #TideSmart and share how people can protect themselves from rising tides and flooding while enjoying the state’s beaches, bays, and tidal rivers.
New Jersey’s Know Your Tides social media campaign, along with the other components of the risk communications campaign, will address the need to involve and inform the public about the coastal hazards impacts they will face and what actions they can take to reduce their risk. To accomplish this, Know Your Tides creates and shares infographics, videos, and photos that are part of a social media campaign to teach coastal communities and their visitors how to be Tide Smart. The social media campaign shares information on tides, how to stay alert to flooding, history of how tides are changing across the state and so much more.
This program partners the New Jersey Coastal Management Program (CMP) with Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve (JNCERR) and is made possible in part with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA)’s Enhancement Program Projects of Special Merit (PSM) program.
