The Bureau of NJPDES Stormwater Permitting is part of the Division of Watershed Protection and Restoration and is responsible for:

- Regulating stormwater discharges to surface and ground waters from both industrial and municipal sources through the issuance of NJPDES (New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) Stormwater Permits, N.J.A.C. 7:14A.
- Providing technical and guidance material for stormwater management to address the standards in the Stormwater Management rules, N.J.A.C. 7:8.
