DEP Research Library
The DEP Library serves the information needs of the department and the public by providing research assistance and access to publications. The library maintains a collection of books, journals, reference materials and research reports related to the work of the DEP and serves as a permanent repository for the agency’s scientific publications. Two full-time library staff, including a librarian and library associate provide reference services, document retrieval, literature searches and interlibrary loans.
The library is supported by DEP and the Division of Science and Research and functions as a branch of the NJ State Library, the main library for New Jersey State Government and Thomas Edison State University.
Request items
DEP staff can request books, articles or other materials directly from the DEP Library. If an item is not available in-house, we will automatically attempt to obtain it through interlibrary loan.

Library card sign-up
All DEP employees are eligible for a NJ State Library card. Register or renew your card to check out books and access electronic resources such as e-books, databases, and e-journals.
DEP Reports in the NJ State Publications Digital Library
View a repository of current and historical DEP reports at the NJ State Publications Digital Library. Many historical DEP reports have also been digitized at Rutgers’ Environmental Digital Library.
Hours and Location
Open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM for walk-in access. No appointment required for DEP employees.
