CSO Permittees
The owners/operators of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) outfalls are regulated by New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) CSO permits. The goal of the NJPDES CSO permits is to meet the requirements of the Clean Water Act and the Federal CSO Policy by reducing or eliminating the discharges from CSO outfalls.
The Individual Permit for Combined Sewer Overflow Management (Category CSM) is issued to owners/operators of combined sewer systems and/or CSO outfalls.

Wet Weather Demo Project
The focus of the Wet Weather Flow Treatment and Disinfection Demonstration Project’s (WWDDP) was to demonstrate the performance of selected technologies to treat for solids removal and disinfection under field conditions at remote, satellite end of pipe locations. The WWDDP established that high-performance satellite treatment can provide a cost-effective alternative for the treatment of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs).
