Who runs New Jersey Fleet Advisor, and why was it created?

New Jersey Fleet Advisor is funded and administered by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). NJDEP is responsible for implementing and enforcing environmental laws, regulations, and policies to preserve and improve the quality of air, water, and land in the state. This includes protecting and managing New Jersey’s environment, mitigating pollution and climate change impacts, and encouraging the adoption of clean technologies. CALSTART is the Lead Consultant for New Jersey Fleet Advisor and will oversee fleet recruitment, selection and development of the Fleet Electrification Roadmaps. CALSTART is a nationwide nonprofit working to decarbonize the transportation industry. CALSTART has extensive experience in fleet transition planning and also administers technical assistance programs in Massachusetts and California.

New Jersey Fleet Advisor was created to address challenges fleets face in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles due to the many facets of vehicle electrification projects. The process can be overwhelming for fleet decision-makers engaging outside entities such as utilities, manufacturers, and local permitting authorities while also learning about what type of electric vehicles are available and what will work best for them. This Program is designed to help address these challenges and spur zero-emission vehicle adoption by assisting fleets in transitioning to more sustainable zero-emission vehicles.
