It has been removed from that publication and is presented here with additional fields for the cross-referencing of nomenclature for geologic and hydrogeologic units used by United States Geological Survey (USGS) and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The hydrogeologic nomenclature reference table correlates formal geologic and hydrogeologic nomenclature for New Jersey. The units that appear in the table are those used by the NJGS and USGS in geologic mapping and hydrogeologic studies and by the NJDEP Division of Water Supply in regulating water use. The database contains some out-of-use terms that are intended to maintain continuity with current usage. The fields GEONUM, GEONAME, and GEOABB contain designations for units in the NJGS GEODATA database of formal geologic units. The fields HYDROABB, HYDRONAME and HYDRONUM have been developed by NJGS to identify formal and proposed hydrogeologic units in keeping with the USGS Stratigraphic Code of Nomenclature. Units used by the USGS-Water Resources Division, West Trenton, New Jersey are identified by a Ground Water Site Inventory (GWSI) code, assigned to units within the USGS GWSI database and code for units used by the NJDEP_BWA in the administration of water supply allocation permits is also included in the correlation. Purpose: The table is intended to provide a reference for administering hydrogeologic data. It allows for linking nomenclature used by various agencies involved in water-resource studies and administration. Although the database is in quasi-chronological order, it is not intended to be a formal stratigraphic correlation chart. Due to geologic and hydrogeologic associations between units formal chronological relationships are broken for some units. Supplemental_Information: The units compiled in the database are used on published geologic and hydrogeologic maps for New Jersey, and in databases of hydrogeologic units referenced above and maintained by the various agencies. The units primarily derive from maps and publications of the NJGS and USGS. References of Hydrogeologic Reference Table: Drake, Avery Ala, Jr., Richard A. Volkert, Donald H. Monteverde, Gregory C.
