Data
Safe Shellfish Harvesting

This data includes bacteria results (Fecal and Total Coliform) collected over the years that were used to classify shellfish growing waters to protect the public from health risks associated with the consumption of shellfish. Available for download are all results associated with this program, the monitoring stations coordinates where these results were collected, and a GIS layer representing the classification of NJ marine waters.

Nutrient Monitoring

Included in this dataset you will find Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Specific Conductance, Turbidity, Alkalinity, Organic Carbon, Biogenic Silica, Ammonia, Orthophosphate, Total Nitrogen, and Total Phosphorus which are used to evaluate the ecological health of NJ marine waters. Available for download are all results associated with this program, and the monitoring stations coordinates where these results were collected.

Algal Bloom Monitoring

Included in this dataset you will find Chlorophyll ‘a’ results which are used to identify potential algal blooms occurring in NJ marine waters. Available for download are all results associated with this program, and the monitoring stations coordinates where these results were collected.

Chlorophyll Aircraft Remote Sensing

This information represents a dense coverage of interpolated results from an air craft remote sensor that flies along the coast of NJ through the summer months. The sensor measures wave lengths and applies and algorithm to interpret an estimated chlorophyll value. This information can be downloaded from our Chlorophyll Aircraft Remote Sensing Website.

Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring

The Bureau supports a network of real-time water quality sensors that monitor Temperature, Specific Conductance, Salinity, Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Turbidity, and Chlorophyll. This data can be downloaded via the Bureau’s website.

Hourly Rainfall Data Acquisition

Through partnering with Rutgers University and the National Weather Service, hourly rainfall data can be downloaded through our Rainfall Acquisition site. The rainfall amounts are estimated values based on NWS Multi Precipitator Estimator technology. To obtain hourly rainfall totals, visit the link below.
