Dam Restoration Loan Program

The Bureau of Dam Safety is responsible for the administration of the New Jersey Dam Restoration and Inland Water Projects Loan Program as established by the “Green Acres, Clean Water, Farmland and Historic Preservation Bond Act of 1992”, P.L. 1992, c. 88 and the “Dam, Lake, Stream, Flood Engineering, Water Resources and Wastewater Treatment Project Bond Act of 2003”, P.L. 2003, c. 162.  The purpose of the program is to provide loans to assist local government units, private lake associations or similar organizations in the funding of a dam restoration project or an inland waters project.  Application periods are established from time to time based upon availability of funds in the program. Notification of application periods will be published in the New Jersey Register and on the Bureau of Dam Safety web pages.  Please refer to the links below for additional information.

The loan application period is currently closed; however, please check back in late 2025 for new application opportunities. Additional rounds will be opened as funding becomes available from repayments and cancelations of prior loans.
