Common Projects which may Require a
Division of Land Resource Protection Permit

Before reviewing the information below, you may wish to first determine what if any “special areas” may be on your site. The presence or absence of special areas can be rudimentarily determined using the Department’s online mapping service, NJ-GeoWeb. The presence of special areas within your project site may also affect the type of authorization required.

Please be advised, the below list is intended to provide general guidance on some of the more common projects. The list does not cover all projects which require a permit and may not cover all Division of Land Resource Protection permits required for a project. Furthermore, information on other required New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection permits which are not under the purview of the Division of Land Resource Protection is not provided herein.

If you cannot locate your proposed activity, please contact the Division’s Technical Support Center at 609-777-0454 or complete an Online Contact Form.
