The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is helping Hotels become more Sustainable. Watch a short video of how the program works and what kind of results you can obtained.

How the Program Works:

The technical assistance and education program focuses on ways to implement sustainable practices that result in economic benefits.  These practices include increasing energy efficiency, reducing the use of hazardous materials, conserving water, reducing waste generation and reducing your carbon footprint.

Hotels that implement the recommended sustainable practices will also be eligible for membership in New Jersey’s Sustainable Business Registry.

How to Participate:

Hotels may volunteer to participate in the Garden State Green Hotels Program simply by contacting Edward Bakos at Edward.Bakos@njdepwptest.net or 609-633-0631. Hotels that wish to participate in energy evaluations will be asked to provide the last 12 months of energy bills. All hotels enrolled in the program will receive environmental evaluations, which will be conducted by the NJ SBEAP. There is no obligation to implement any recommendations.
