ERT Recertification Instructions

Step 1: Meet the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) requirements

Recertification is required in the following:

  1. ASE A6 – Electrical/Electronics
  2. ASE A8 – Engine Performance
  3. ASE L1 – Advanced Engine Performance
Step 2: Give ASE permission to email your ASE certification status to DEP

This MUST be done every time you recertify; we do not automatically receive results. Please click here for the steps to follow:

Step 3: Take the free online NJ-CERT Course and Assessment

Upon approval, your ERT certificate and ID cards will be emailed to you. Your ERT expiration date will correspond to the expiration date of your ASE L1 certification.
