Emission Repair Technician

Under New Jersey’s enhanced Inspection and Maintenance program, any person or facility shall not perform emission-related repairs for compensation of any kind, unless the repairs are made by, or under the supervision of, a certified ERT employed by the facility.  The State has established the Emission Technician Education Program, which identifies the requirements needed to become a certified ERT in New Jersey.  Recertification is required every 5 years.
