In-class with the Pinelands Commission

The Pinelands Commission offers in-class programs 30 to 45 minutes in length which provides a general overview of the importance of water and the natural, historic, and cultural resources of the Pinelands region.

Programs are geared for grades 4-6. However, adjustments are made for other age groups or grade levels.

Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ naturalists and biologists share the inspiring stories of rare wildlife.

Field Trips at New Jersey State Parks

14 Locations Across the State

Students from Pre-K through college, summer campers, scout groups, homeschoolers and other groups are invited to explore the state’s rich natural and historic resources. Environmental education programs immerse students in a variety of our state’s habitats and provide connections between the state’s natural wonders and the school curriculum.

Field Trips at Pinelands Institute

Pemberton, Burlington County

P.I.N.E.S. offers students interactive field trips focusing on the ecology of the Pinelands forests and wetlands, as well as on local agriculture and cranberry production.

Field trip opportunities are available for school students, homeschool groups, scout groups and adult groups. In-school presentations are also available for specific topics.

Field Trips at Pequest Trout Hatchery

Oxford, Warren County

Year-round line of programming for schools and organized groups at the Pequest Trout Hatchery and Natural Resource Education Center. All programs are designed to support most major subject areas in grades pre-K-12 while teaching about wildlife and the environment, and can be used to meet state standards for core course proficiencies as well as scout badge requirements.

The Pinelands Commission offers free, Pinelands educational programs at the agency’s headquarters on 15 Springfield Road in Pemberton Township, NJ.

The group programs would be scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding State holidays.

Field Trips at Sedge Island

Island Beach State Park, Ocean County

Sedge Island Natural Resource Education Center, located in Barnegat Bay in New Jersey’s only marine conservation zone offers residential environmental education programs to participants 12 years of age and older. A short 15-minute boat ride from the Sedge Dock at Island Beach State Park takes you to the island.

Participants will enjoy a hands-on immersive salt marsh education experience, exploring both the natural and cultural history of the area.

Field Trips at Forest Resource Education Center

Jackson, Ocean County

School groups visit the FREC to experience the forest through fun, hands-on activities and experiential learning. There are seven programs to choose including Forest Products, Wildlife Habitats, Watershed Investigation, and Seeds to Trees.
