Volunteer Opportunities


Wildlife Conservation Corps

Volunteers assist with Fish and Wildlife activities such as:

  • Hunter education
  • Operation of turkey, beaver and otter check stations
  • Spring, fall and winter trout stocking programs
  • Fishing instruction at the Pequest facility
  • Upkeep of hunter training ranges located in Wildlife Management Areas
  • Activities with the Endangered and Nongame Species Program

Volunteer in state parks, forests and historic sites

Individual or group volunteers assist with park activities such as:

  • Plant seedlings
  • Garden
  • History programs
  • Nature programs
  • Public information
  • Carpentry
  • Identify invasive species
  • Trail work and clean-up
  • Campground host

NJ Forest Service volunteers

Individual or group volunteers assist with park activities such as:

  • Plant seedlings and/or maintain gardens
  • Forest inventory and data collection
  • Identify invasive species
  • Trail work and forest restoration
  • Collect tree seeds
  • Process bare root or tube seedlings
  • Bluebird nest box monitoring
  • Assisting with interpretive programs

Adopt-a-Beach Program

Adopt-A-Beach is a statewide volunteer program created by DEP and New Jersey Clean Communities Council to encourage volunteers to clean and maintain beaches, bays, rivers and all waterways.

There are two cleanups each year:

Volunteers may also schedule cleanups at any time during the year, working closely with local governments.

America Recycles Day

It is the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States! Held on and around November 15, America Recycles Day educates and encourages individuals on how to be more mindful of what they consume, where and how to properly recycle, and to pledge to recycle more and recycle right in their everyday lives.
