The Technologist Education and Licensing Section (Section) ensures that patients receive the benefits of high quality radiological procedures without unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation by administering New Jersey’s educational and licensure program for radiologic technologists. In New Jersey, there are approximately 23,000 licensed radiologic technologists in ten licensure categories. Additionally, the Section oversees approximately 60 educational programs that are approved by either the Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (Board) or the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (Department).
Educational Programs
Schools wishing to teach radiologic technology or radiation therapy must obtain Board approval. In order to gain approval the potential school needs to submit an application for review.
