Hope Creek Generating Station

Hope Creek Generating Station utilizes boiling water reactor technology to produce steam used as the motive force to generate electricity.  The station is located on the northern half of Artificial Island in Alloways Creek Township in Salem County.  Salem Generating Station (Units 1 & 2) occupies the southern half of the island.

Hope Creek is owned and operated by PSEG Nuclear.

Hope Creek has a rated output of 1268 megawatts of electricity.  Hope Creek received its full-power operating license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on July 25, 1986.  On July 20, 2011, the NRC renewed Hope Creek’s operating license.  The renewed operating license will expire on April 11, 2046.
