- DEP: Review of the Impacts to Marine Fauna from EMF
The effect of electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) from submarine cables is an active area of research. Marine animals can detect and orient to EMF and use the information for prey detection, predator avoidance, and navigation. Artificial EMF can elicit a response in marine animals, such as lingering near cables, or avoidance, but published research shows no more than a negligible impact on those organisms. - DEP Ocean / Wind Power Ecological Baseline Studies
