NJ Canada Goose 1-Bird Bag Limit for 2022-23
October 6, 2022
New Jersey Canada Goose Bag Limit Remains at 1-bird during the 2022 Regular Season in North and South Waterfowl Zones.
Canada goose harvest management is divided into 3 primary harvest zones throughout Atlantic Flyway states based on the primary population of Canada geese that occurs in a given area during the fall and winter. Atlantic Population (AP) Canada geese, that is, geese that breed in northern Quebec and winter in the US, have been doing poorly for over a decade. In response to this poor population status, AP Zones in all Atlantic Flyway states were reduced to a very restrictive season of 30 days with a 1-bird bag limit, beginning in 2021, and continuing into the 2022-23 season. In New Jersey, this affects the North and South Waterfowl Hunting Zones.
This video explains the biological factors that were considered by the Atlantic Flyway Council to arrive at this decision.
