Water Lowering For Boat Ramp Improvements at Assunpink WMA Lakes

NJ Fish and Wildlife continues to improve boating and fishing access at waterbodies on Wildlife Management Areas throughout the State. This latest project will update 2 existing gravel boat ramps to concrete ramps at Rising Sun and Stone Tavern Lakes within Assunpink WMA.

Water levels at Stone Tavern and Rising Sun Lakes will be lowered beginning September 16, 2022. The lakes will be drawn down approximately 6-8 feet for construction of the boat ramps.

Both projects should be complete by December 1, 2022, at which time the lakes will be returned to their normal water levels. Access is currently open to these locations, however, it will be impacted by construction activities during the project. NJ Fish and Wildlife will provide updates on the website should any changes regarding the completion date or access occur.

Future improvements will include the installation of floating docks. Lake lowering will not be needed for the installation of those docks.

Both lakes have adequate depths to fully support the fish population during the duration of the project.

New Jersey Fish and Wildlife appreciates your patience and understanding while this work is being completed and improvements are made.
