To purchase a NJ hunting license it is necessary to document possession of a previous year’s resident license or hunter education course completion. Visitors to our license Web site will find the option to purchase hunting and trapping licenses “locked” if this documentation has not been entered into a customer’s profile in the license database.
The customer profile for all license purchasers is assigned a Conservation ID Number (CID#). This lifetime number will appear on all licenses and permits. The CID# is used whenever making a transaction or checking on permit status on the license Web site. Once a CID# is assigned a customer can also access their information using other identifying information, such as their Social Security Number and date of birth.
New Jersey Fish and Wildlife has established a process for nonresident hunters only to have their license purchase options “unlocked” by using the Nonresident License Documentation Form. Documentation can be sent to our Hunter Education Unit via regular mail or as e-mail attachment(s) per the instructions on the form. However, a customer profile and assigned CID# must be established prior to staff being able to unlock the option and allow for license purchases.
Customers should also complete the annual Child Support Certification process when first establishing their CID#. For information on this requirement visit the Child Support Certification page.

NOTE: A customer record MUST be established and a Conservation Identification Number (CID#) assigned prior to submitting form. Go to https://nj.aspirafocus.com/internetsales to create a record and receive your CID#.
Information regarding laws, regulations, requirements, seasons and other topics is available in the current Hunting & Trapping Digest (published in August). Digests are available at NJ Fish & Wildlife offices, license agents, through the mail by request (non-residents only) or on-line.
