New Jersey Game Code

The Game Code governs when, by what means, at which locations, in what numbers, and at what sizes wild game animals may be pursued, caught, killed, or possessed in the state. For more than 100 years the Game Code has provided a system for the protection, propagation, introduction and conservation of wild game animals in the state and for their use and development for public recreation and food supply.

The Game Code is revised every two years. Season dates, bag limits and other regulations, based on scientific investigation and research, are proposed by the Fish and Game Council and a public comment period, including a public hearing, are scheduled.
