Approximately ten acres of invasive autumn olive plants along Mount Pleasant Road in the Columbia Wildlife Management Area were reclaimed during the summer of 2020.
Herbicide was applied to the fields in August to prevent the autumn olive and the multiflora rose from reestablishing in the field. A mix of pollinator native flowering plant seeds and warm season grasses, including little blue stem, were planted in winter 2021. These plants will provide habitat for a variety of wildlife species native to New Jersey, including insects, birds, and small mammals.
