Mosquito Management at Home

Mosquito Management at Home

Prevent Bites

Taking proper precautions when spending time outdoors should be a priority. Mosquito borne illnesses can be rapidly fatal. And many bug repellants have the added benefit of repelling ticks as well as mosquitoes. It is also important to maintain window screening and door seals to prevent mosquitoes in the home.

Prevent Breeding

Mosquito breeding around the home can be reduced significantly by reducing the amount of standing water available for mosquito breeding.

Make sure to drill drainage holes into or overturn any outdoor containers and furniture that may unintentionally hold water, such as flower pots and trash cans.

Cover, filter, or frequently change the water in rain barrels, pools, birdbaths, outdoor pet dishes, and other standing water.

Mosquitoes can go from eggs to adults in as short as 3 days.

Take a look at some sources of mosquitoes around the house that you can manage yourself.
