COMMISSIONER MCCABE, MAYOR GUSCIORA TO HOST PUBLIC INPUT
SESSION IN TRENTON TO HEAR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONCERNS

(19/P089) TRENTON – A public input session to hear the community’s environmental justice issues for Trenton is set for Tuesday, Oct. 29 in the city with Commissioner Catherine R. McCabe and Mayor Reed Gusciora, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced today.
Residents and local community groups are welcome to attend the session, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the East Trenton Collaborative, 601 N. Clinton Ave., to meet Commissioner McCabe and Mayor Gusciora, and share their environmental concerns. Parking will be available in the lot at the corner of North Clinton and North Olden avenues, across from the Collaborative building.

“Public input is a critical part of pursuing environmental justice for our communities overburdened by various sources of pollution,” Commissioner McCabe said. “I look forward to hearing the public’s concerns, so that we can work together in finding appropriate relief for New Jersey’s most vulnerable residents and improving their quality of life.”

Commissioner McCabe will also provide an update on the DEP’s efforts to advance environmental justice initiatives across the state. Environmental justice is focused on ensuring that all state residents, regardless of race, ethnicity, color, national origin or income, are able to live and work in a healthy and clean environment, and have equal access to clean energy resources and other environmental programs.

“I look forward to meeting with the DEP on Oct. 29 to hear about all the things that are being done to help keep my community safe from water, soil and air pollution,” said Gwendolyn Grier, a resident of Trenton.
