DEP TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING ON PROPOSED DRAFT SEWER SERVICE AREA MAP (11/P34) TRENTON – The Department of Environmental Protection will hold two public meetings in Union County to discuss proposed draft sewer service area maps in three municipalities. The Linden-Roselle meeting will take place Tuesday, March 22 and the Berkley Heights meeting on, Wednesday, March 23. These meetings are part of a planning effort to update the Wastewater Management Plan for these municipalities. The maps to be discussed are preliminary working drafts, developed by DEP and reviewed by Union County and the appropriate municipalities. It reflects proposed changes in wastewater service area designations to eliminate conflicts with Category One waters, wetlands, threatened and endangered species habitats and other unique and rare ecological communities. The drafts are subject to change in response to information provided by the public. The preliminary working draft map for Linden-Roselle can be viewed at: These are public information sessions where residents and developers can examine maps and ask questions concerning the proposed changes in sewer service area designation. The March 22 meeting for Linden-Roselle will take place in the Columbia Bank Room of the Linden Public Library, 31 East Henry Street in Linden between 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. The March 23 meeting for Berkley heights will take place in the Public Meeting Room of the Berkley Heights Public Library, 290 Plainfield Avenue in Berkley Heights between 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. The DEP and County will accept comments and information related to the maps from the date of the posting of this public notice until 30 days after the public meeting. | |
