(08/12) TRENTON – As part of the New Jersey State Park Police’s effort to achieve accreditation, the public is invited to offer comment on the agency’s performance and operations during a telephone call-in session on Sunday, Feb. 24.

Members of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police will conduct the public-opinion session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. New Jersey residents and employees of state government agencies can participate by calling (800) 843-6420.

Callers must limit their comment to 10 minutes and must address the State Park Police’s ability to meet standards in nine major law-enforcement areas: role, responsibilities and relationships with other agencies; organization, management and administration; personnel structure; personnel process; operations; operational support; traffic operations; prisoner and court-related activities; and auxiliary and technical services.

The New Jersey State Park Police are seeking accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, considered to be the gold standard for police work. The accreditation process is rigorous and will include examinations of stations, evidence management, communications, training and administration facilities.

CALEA is a joint effort of law enforcement’s major executive associations including: the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, the National Sheriff’s Association and the Police Executive Research Forum.
