FOOT TAPPING, FROG HOPPING EARTH DAY 2002 FAMILY FESTIVAL AT LIBERTY STATE PARK
(02/25) JERSEY CITY— The Department of Environmental Protection's Liberty State Park Interpretive Center will be hosting an "Earth Day 2002 Family Festival" on Saturday, April 20, 2002, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing entertainment and environmental education opportunities for adults and children of all ages.
The festival will offer a diversity of presentations, demonstrations and activities, including live animals, storytelling, musical entertainment, nature tours, theatrical performances and a live falconry demonstration. The Earth Day 2002 Family Festiv al is sponsored by Liberty State Park, the Friends of Liberty State Park and the Liberty State Park Conservancy.
Special activities include:
The Wildlife Conservation Society's Wildlife Theater Players — presenting innovative, amusing and educational skits: Croaking in the Night, The Metamorphosis Boogie, The Great Treasure Hunt, and The Mystery of Great Blue Heron Marsh. (2 p.m., Main Stage) (The WCS Wildlife Theater Players perform regularly at New York City's Central Park Zoo)
Flight of the Falcon— Nationally renowned Ray Pena, the Master Falconer, will thrill audiences with his show of hawks, owls and falcons. (4 p.m.Main Stage)
DIRECTIONS: Liberty State Park is located in Jersey City, Exit 14B off the New Jersey Turnpike. Follow signs to the Interpretive Center on Freedom Way.
The Liberty State Park Interpretive Center, located on Freedom Way within Liberty State Park, features environmental and historical exhibits that focus on the changing Hudson River and the surrounding area. The center houses an auditorium and classroom space and offers programs for school and youth groups, and the public. Liberty State Park provides habitat for numerous resident and migratory birds and is a valuable local resource where people can learn about and interact with the environment.
