Certified Local Government Grant Application 2026 (FY2025)
We are excited to announce the 2026 (FY2025) round of the Certified Local Government (CLG) grants!
What are the benefits?
These annual grants fund a variety of historic preservation planning activities in CLG communities, such as
- Intensive-level architectural surveys
- Historic preservation master plan elements
- Design guidelines
- National Register nominations
- Education, outreach and training opportunities
Funding
Grant award amounts
- $15,000 minimum
- $50,000 maximum
The grants are awarded on a competitive basis and there is no match requirement. We anticipate that the amount of funding available for subgrants in 2025 will be between $100,000 and $130,000.
Eligibility
Grants are only available to municipalities that are both:
- Certified with the National Park Service
- Current with their submittal of annual reports

The FY2025 grant round is open from November 20, 2024, through 11:59 p.m. February 28, 2025. All CLG grants are now managed through the System for Administering Grants Electronically (SAGE).
