Green Acres Success Stories

Rutgal Property, Frelinghuysen Township, Warren County, 276 acres

 

The Green Acres Program acquired this property, adjacent to The Nature Conservancy’s Glover Pond Preserve, because of its important natural resources. The site, consisting of open farmland, wetlands, and wooded forest, contains a Category 1 pond and is a prime groundwater recharge area. In addition, it is a Natural Heritage Priority Site and contains habitat for State and Federal Threatened and Endangered species, including the bog turtle.
