Green Acres Success Stories
Flooded Home Buyouts Model, Harmony Township, Warren County
Harmony Township, in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Green Acres, purchased six parcels along the Delaware River. These were the sites of six homes that were destroyed by the two successive flooding disasters in 2005. As a result of those flood events, certain properties qualified for FEMA disaster relief funding. FEMA provided 75% of the land acquisition and demolition costs, with Green Acres providing the 25% match. The acquisition of these properties will provide multiple access points to the river for all of the residents of the State.
