Recycling Enhancement Act County Grant
Purpose of Funding
To prepare, revise and implement district solid waste management plans, implementation of the State Recycling Plan, research and education.

Notification Date
Awards are issued approximately three months after submission of acceptable grant applications. Other rules and procedures apply, refer to the current REA Guide.
Total to be Distributed
Approximately $7,166,000.00 annually
Source of Funding
A $3.00 per ton tax on solid waste accepted for disposal or transfer at New Jersey Solid Waste facilities. The REA County Grant receives 30% of the annual balance of the State Recycling Tax Fund.

Who is Eligible
County governments only.
Qualifications Required
The DEP must determine that a county is meeting its solid waste management responsibilities. Dependent on submission and approval of a complete Grant application including a spending plan. Deadlines and conditions apply. See the applicable program Guide for details.
Grants/Loans Limitations
Annual grants are based on amount of solid waste generated in each county as a percentage of all waste generated in New Jersey.
Application Procedures
Program announcements, application deadlines and program guidelines are sent to the counties annually.
