It Pays to Plug In: NJ’s Electric Vehicle Charging Grant Program

To provide grants to offset the cost of purchasing and maintaining electric vehicle charging stations. The program is designed to expand New Jersey’s growing network of electric vehicle infrastructure, allowing residents, businesses, and government agencies to purchase and drive electric vehicles.

Application Deadline
Level 1/Level 2 applications are accepted on a rolling basis; DC Fast Charger applications are accepted during competitive solicitation periods only.

Contingent upon availability of funding.

Who is Eligible
Private residential dwellings other than multi-unit dwellings are not eligible for grants. The program is open to all other applicants: Businesses, governments, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions.

Grant Limitations
For Level 1 and Level 2 chargers, applicants will be considered on a first-come, first-served, basis, and funds will be allocated to approved projects until depleted. DC Fast Charger applications are accepted during competitive solicitation periods only. The NJDEP reserves the right to limit the amount of reimbursement per applicant based on number and location of charging stations.

Application Procedures
Prospective applicants must submit an Application via the System for Administering Grants Electronically (SAGE). Prospective applicants must also register for NJStart at https://www.njstart.gov/bso/
