Purpose of Funding
Funds are made available to projects that benefit New Jersey’s nongame wildlife through education, outreach, research, conservation, species protection or habitat management, or a combination of these, undertaken by certified non-profit organizations in accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:3-33.11 et seq.

Who is Eligible
Any nonprofit organization as defined at N.J.A.C. 7:5-1.3 shall be eligible to submit an application for Conserve Wildlife matching grants.

Qualifications Required for Consideration
In order for the entities to qualify for Conserve Wildlife matching grant funds, they must have:

  1. The ability to provide match (in-kind and/or monetary) equal to at least 50% of the grant amount.
  2. The willingness and authority to sign a grant agreement; and
  3. The ability to implement the project within two years, and as outlined in the grant agreement.

Grant Limitations
The minimum matching grant shall be $2,500.00; the maximum matching grant shall be $ 10,000.00. The contribution by the Department’s Endangered and Nongame Species Program (ENSP) Conserve Wildlife matching grant shall be matched by at least 50% in eligible in-kind and/or monetary contributions by the grantee toward a project that qualifies for funding under the Conserve Wildlife Matching Grant Program rules, N.J.A.C. 7:5.
