The Department amended its emission statement rules to add a reporting threshold for methane, so that all sources that emit, or have the potential to emit, methane equal to, or more than, 100 tons per year, will have to report those emissions annually.

Applicable Rules: N.J.A.C. 7:27-21 – Emission Statements

1^st Reporting year begins on July 1, 2022.

1^st Reporting year ends on December 31, 2022

Subsequent reporting is conducted on a calendar year basis (January 1 – December 31)

Report methane emissions by May 15, 2023, using the Department’s Emission Statement Program.
