On February 8th at 5:30 pm the second in a series of public meetings will be held regarding the Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey. At this meeting results from the survey will be shared, for which 1,610 survey responses were submitted. In addition, the public will be invited to offer public comment on the access planning. Feedback from the survey and public comments will be used to develop public information materials, including signage, brochures and maps that delineate safe and legal routes for motor vehicle usage to protect culturally and ecologically sensitive resources within the state forest and to ensure public safety. It is expected that a third public meeting will be held later this summer, during which the draft public information materials will be presented. After the materials are presented, another public comment period will be held.
