About the Program: Join NJDEP Fish & Wildlife staff and volunteers for a FREE hands-on fishing workshop that includes everything you need to know to get started! This introductory workshop will cover fish biology; how to set up equipment; safety practices; bait and tackle choices; how to cast; and fishing regulations. Participants will put their new skills to practice with a fishing experience.
The program is open to children ages 10 and older. Those under the age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or
guardian who will be actively fishing alongside the child.
All bait, tackle and equipment will be provided, however participants aged 16 and over will need to purchase a 2025 NJ Fishing License prior to participating in the workshop. This is a catch and release fishing workshop.
Workshop Fee: Free.
Registration Deadline: July 6 at 12 p.m. or when full.

Notes:
- Registration is limited to 15 participants.
- This workshop is for individuals or families with children 10 years and older. Families may register up to two (2) additional members.
- Participants, age 16-69, must have a valid 2025 NJ Freshwater Fishing License to participate in the workshop
- NJ Residents, aged 70 and older do not need a fishing license, but can create a CID# or retrieve an existing CID# for free by following the instructions above.
