Join New Jersey Fish and Wildlife’s R3 Hunting & Shooting Program for TWO Mentored hunting workshop opportunities introducing YOU to small game hunting. This workshop (strategically planned during the week) is designed to provide participants 18 years of age or older with an informative and welcoming environment hunting one of New Jersey’s most abundant small game species, the eastern gray squirrel.

Workshop Overview:

This FREE workshop is for beginner hunters who have not small game hunted before, or current hunters interested in expanding their current participation. Participants will learn about small game hunting, specifically squirrel hunting, regulations, equipment, techniques, and accessing small game areas. The workshop includes a mentored squirrel hunt, followed by cleaning and cooking techniques for your harvest!

When/Where:

There will be a REQUIRED Virtual Teams Meeting on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, 7:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. This virtual meeting will be for Questions and Answers and a brief background on what to expect for the hunt. (Agenda with details on the mentored hunt will be emailed to those who are selected.)

Hunt Days:

Friday, October 18, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Clinton Wildlife Management Area (WMA).

Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Assunpink Conservation Center.

Requirements:

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and are required to possess a valid 2024 Firearm hunting license, All Around license or apprentice firearm hunting license. All participants MUST provide their own firearm and hunting equipment; All ammunition will be provided by the R3 Hunting program.

Registration is limited. To attend this Mentored Hunt, you MUST also attend the Virtual Meeting on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
