Certifying Agencies

The State of New Jersey has four agencies which certify that a business is a bona fide minority business enterprise (MBE), women business enterprise (WBE) or disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE).  The four agencies (NJ Department of Transportation, NJ Department of Treasury, NJ Transit, and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey) have a formal certification process which are directed by federal and/or New Jersey state regulations in the determination of a firm’s MBE/WBE/DBE status.  Upon completion of this process, MBE/WBE/DBE firms are provided with the opportunity to compete for state and/or federally funded contracts.
