NJPDES Class B Biosolids Applicators – Ground Water Monitoring

Request for Information: PFAS Monitoring 

The Division is requiring all NJPDES regulated entities that land apply Class B biosolids under a letter of land application management approval (LLAMA) at agricultural sites to monitor the ground water for per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). A Request for Information was issued on January 8, 2025, to three (3) Class B regulated entities that land apply biosolids under LLAMAs. The Request for Information requested permittees to collect two (2) ground water samples at least 30 days apart for the presence of PFAS (as detailed in Attachment I) for specified monitoring well locations.
