BLINK/ENVOY: Public + Amenity EV Carshare
Project
Blink and Envoy will be partnering with a non-profit to introduce electric vehicle carshare to New Jersey communities. Part of this program will be open to the public, similar to their existing community station-based all-electric carsharing service in Los Angeles, Blue LA powered by Blink Mobility. The remaining program will provide EVs for carshare at affordable housing units, exclusively for residents of these units, with subsidized rates for income-qualified users.

CITY OF JERSEY CITY: Via Jersey City Fleet Electrification
Project
The City of Jersey City, in partnership with Via, will continue transitioning the fleet of their existing on-demand transit service to electric vehicles. Via Jersey City launched in February 2020 with a fleet that included electric vehicles. Recognizing that the City’s central wards are already well-served by transit, Via designed an innovative service model: riders may book trips to or from these wards, but not within them. This model helps limit the replication of trips that can be served by PATH, light rail, and existing bus routes, ensuring that Via Jersey City complements — rather than competes with — existing options.
The service provides over 2,000 daily rides and 13,000 weekly rides, and has unlocked access to social, economic, and cultural opportunities for riders. Surveys show that the majority of residents who use the service make less than $50,000 annually and live in neighborhoods with less fixed-route transit access. Additionally, 40% of service trips start or end within 300 hundred feet of affordable housing units.

ISLES, INC: GOTrenton!
Project
GOTrenton! is a collaborative effort spearheaded by Isles, Inc. and state and local partners to bring affordable and reliable electric vehicle transportation to the Trenton community. The program provides free, on-demand shared rides for residents to get to work, appointments, community events, shops, social services, and more. Multi-passenger electric vans with drivers are also available for local organizations to contract for events or ongoing transportation needs.
In addition to expanding accessible transportation options for low-income communities, the program will work to lessen the disproportionate asthma rates and healthcare costs by reducing dependence on private-vehicle ownership and lowering greenhouse gases and air pollution. GOTrenton! is one of the first subsidized rideshare efforts in the country to serve low-income and environmental justice communities.

Trenton, NJ

The project initially launched in October 2023 and continues evolving to improve accessibility and convenience for users.

TOWNSHIP OF WOODBRIDGE: Electric Shuttle Connection
Project
The Woodbridge Electric Shuttle Connection will be an additional vehicle under the STOW (Senior Transportation of Woodbridge) program, providing a flexible, door-to-door electric shuttle service tailored to meet the needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities. This shared-ride transportation option will offer safe, reliable and assisted mobility to key locations throughout the Township including the Woodbridge Community Center, Main Library, shopping centers, local medical appointments, Township events, and many others.
This service is designated to enhance independence for residents who need extra transportation support while promoting accessibility and inclusion. By reducing the reliance on personal vehicles and offering an environmentally friendly transit alternative, the electric shuttle will also contribute to reduced traffic congestion and lower emissions. The Woodbridge Electric Shuttle Connection reinforces the Township’s commitment to sustainable, community-centered transportation that supports the well-being of all residents.

ZAPP ELECTRIC INC: DCFC Hubs
Project
Zapp will be installing publicly accessible Direct Current Fast Charging hubs in various New Jersey communities to support their all-electric rideshare fleets and offer charging solutions for drivers working through Transportation Network Companies (TNC) like Uber and Lyft.
They plan to hire drivers living in the immediate areas to operate their fleets, with priority on military veterans. Zapp found that many of these potential drivers live in multi-unit dwellings and do not have access to overnight charging. Providing electric vehicles and charging for TNC drivers will also give residents who rely on public transportation additional mobility options to support their access to employment, education, healthcare, and other daily commuting needs.
