The Benefits Add Up When You
Drive Green
Now is a great time to think electric when planning your next vehicle purchase or lease. From cost savings and performance to sustainability and the fun factor, electric vehicles check all the boxes. See why making the switch could be right for you.
LEARN THE BASICS
Fully electric vehicles versus plug-in hybrids…
Charging at home and on-the-go…
Just the basics.
Go pure electric and cut the gas completely. Or, choose a plug-in hybrid for electric when you want it, and gas when you need it. The choice is yours.
EV charging is simple, low cost, clean, and convenient…particularly when you’re plugged in at home and filling up your battery overnight.
Home charging. Most EV owners plug in at home and wake up to a full battery every morning. Electric vehicles usually come with a Level 1 charging cable that plugs into a standard household outlet. For faster charging, you can install a Level 2 home charger with help from a licensed electrician. Home charging is the most convenient and lowest cost way to charge an electric car.
Don’t live in a single-family home? Work with your landlord, HOA, and property management company to get EV charging in your community. Visit our Multi-Unit Dwelling Toolkit to get started.
Workplace and community chargers. Instead of sitting at the gas station to fuel up, EV drivers can top off while shopping, strolling downtown, or catching a bite to eat. Many employers also offer charging to their employees to use while they are at work.
Public fast chargers. For longer road trips or a quick charge up, New Jersey has a robust network of public fast charging stations, with more popping up all the time! Look for fast chargers at highway rest stops, shopping centers, and community charging hubs. Fast chargers are also great for people who live in apartments or condos and may not have access to home charging.
LEARN THE BENEFITS
Affordable, convenient, and good for the environment? Electric vehicles are all this and more!
New Jersey has some of the best EV incentives in the country, with thousands available in rebates, tax credits, and utility incentives. The cost of charging an EV is only a fraction of what you pay at the pump. And don’t forget, EVs need less maintenance than gas-powered cars, which means even more savings down the road.

No NJ State sales tax for pure electric vehicles
(Phase out to begin 10/1/2024)
Up to $2,000 NJ State rebate

EV owners get most of their charging done at home. Plug in at night and wake up to a full battery every morning – goodbye gas stations!
Most new EVs on the market today can go 200-300+ miles on a single charge. With daily travel averaging less than 40 miles for U.S. drivers, you’ll likely only need to charge every few days (or less)!

EVs have fewer moving parts under the hood than gas-powered cars. That means they need much less maintenance…and less maintenance means less trips to the mechanic.
Transportation is a major source of air pollution in New Jersey. Making the switch to electric is one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint.
EVs are about 70% cleaner than gas-powered vehicles in New Jersey (including emissions from the power plants generating electricity to charge the batteries).
Driving electric gets even cleaner as New Jersey transitions to more renewable energy, like solar and offshore wind.
For complete carbon-free driving, homeowners can install solar panels to bring the sustainability benefits full circle.
There are dozens of EV models on the market today. From SUVs, crossovers, and sedans to pickup trucks, sports cars, and minivans…there is an EV for every price point and lifestyle.
EVs have instant acceleration and fewer moving parts, providing a smooth and powerful drive.
All EV batteries are warrantied for 8-10 years or 100,000 miles. According to Consumer Reports, well-cared for EV batteries last about 200,000 miles on average.
Regenerative braking recharges the battery as the vehicle slows. This helps extend the range of your EV and means a longer lifecycle for your brakes.
