The Department of Environmental Protection will join Senator Ruiz and County Executive DiVincenzo in hosting a community meeting for Newark residents on Thursday, March 14, at 6 p.m. to learn more about the next steps for the Greenway’s investment, including why Newark is in the first phase of implementation.

The Greenway is an approximately nine-mile, 100-foot-wide former rail line spanning Essex and Hudson Counties through eight municipalities – Montclair, Glen Ridge, Bloomfield, Belleville, Newark, Kearny, Secaucus, and Jersey City. The DEP is undertaking the conversion of this blighted corridor into a thriving park with recreation and transportation amenities.
